Sometimes when trying to click on a link, instead of hand, I get arrow and clicking sends me to scam site. How do I fix this?

more options

This happens with many different sites, but only occasionally. I've reloaded Firefox, run Norton Utilities, run Malwarebyes Anti-Malware program repeatedly. The scam sites vary, phony Firefox updates, bidding sites, lots of different ones. If I wait about 30 seconds, the arrow changes back to a hand and I can click through to where I want to go. I can simply close the scam site, and the hand returns on the original site.

Help!!

Thanks.

Matthew

You have MyWordTool in your list of extensions. Malwarebytes should detect it.

You can try removing it from the Add-ons Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+A to open it), Extensions category. If that's not possible, then try uninstalling it from the Windows Control Panel while Firefox is closed.

You can try Malwarebytes Chameleon, which gets Malwarebytes Anti-Malware up and running on infected computers. Don't forget to check for definition updates after installation.

I also note that you have two Norton extensions disabled. You may want to re-enable them if you disabled them yourself, or check for updates if they're disabled because they're incompatible with your version of Firefox.

If the problems persist, there are other tools you can try and forums specialized in malware removal. See the "How do I get rid of malware?" section of the following article.
