Just got a refurbished PC and since the beginning, Firefox (and Chrome as well) have been crashing every 30 min or so on all kinds of websites even when minimized with nothing running in the foreground.

Things I've tried - firefox safe mode - fresh, clean install of my NVIDIA graphics driver - updated my Realtek audio driver - disable hardware acceleration

Here are some of the recent crashes

eplgFirefox.dll = ESET

Make sure you have fully updated ESET.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Firefox comes in two or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Okay that's weird because I uninstalled (or attempted to) ESET a week ago using ESET's own uninstaller. Any tips on how to clean the rest of it up? (I deleted a quarantine folder that I found. I thought about combing through the registry but I don't want to do more harm than good.)

I deleted the folders, restarted, ran a registry clean with Registry Repair and reinstalled from the link you sent. I'll let you know if the crashes happen again.

Thanks for the help and let me know if you have any suggestions about ESET.

since the crashes are all over the place i'd suspect defect hardware might play a role in this. could you check the integrity of your ram with a tool like the one from https://www.memtest.org?

The ESET problem was with Version 64.0.2 The V65 reports did not show ESET, but I wanted to cover all bases.

Thanks for the suggestion, Phillip. I have actually also been having BSODs so I have done memtest, chkdsk, sfc, dism, and all of them had no issues. This is a Craigslist PC with a Team brand SSD so I wouldnt be surprised if something is wrong with it. I just can't figure it out.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Unfortunately, yes. I suspect something else might be wrong though since I've noticed that the crashing only occurs after I wake my computer from sleep. It seems like if I don't sleep my computer, it doesn't happen.

Here are the crashes in safe mode. bp-ced2d892-036e-4b5d-bea0-1ec9d0190210 2/10/2019, 12:42 PM bp-d577a089-2e16-4bcf-b37a-799310190210 2/10/2019, 12:42 PM
