Is Mozilla working on the below email I have received from Microsoft? "The safety and security of your information is top priority for Microsoft. To help keep your account secure, Microsoft will no longer support the use of third-party email and calendar apps which ask you to sign in with only your Microsoft Account username and password. To keep you safe you will need to use a mail or calendar app which supports Microsoft’s modern authentication methods. If you do not act, your third-party email apps will no longer be able to access your Outlook.com, Hotmail or Live.com email address on September 16th.

What do you need to do?

If you are receiving this email, you are currently using an email or calendar app that uses a less secure authentication method to connect to your Outlook.com email account. You will need to upgrade your third-party mail and calendar app to a version which supports modern authentication methods.

Microsoft provides free versions of Outlook for your PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices which can be easily downloaded and connect to your email account. Using an updated version of an Outlook application will ensure you are connecting in the most secure way.

How can you set up your Gmail, Apple Mail, or other third-party mail application?

Various non-Microsoft applications will have their own steps for connecting to your Outlook.com email account using modern authentication methods. See our help article - Modern Authentication Methods now needed to continue syncing Outlook Email in non-Microsoft email apps. However, you may need to contact the creators of those applications to provide you with instructions. In many cases, simply removing and re-adding your account with the latest version of that application will configure it to use modern authentication methods.

Where do I find the browse button to carry out what you have said viz - Now, to try it, go to your account pane, and on the link to SMTP server, click the browse button and select the server named EUREKA. and test it. Your prior SMTP server is still available, but is not connected. Let me know.

Ok, it's not a browse button, but a drop-down menu. Go to 'account settings' and highlight account in left sidebar. That should then display 'Account Settings' on top line. Look at bottom line, where it says 'outgoing server.' Click that and select the EUREKA entry. then attempt to send a message.

Yes message sent ok to another email address after M'soft interfered asking for personal identification pin etc. However, incoming mail not working as IMAP Mail Server set as outlook.com as per the screenshot I sent you. So, despite the brain fog what do I need to do next?

I suggest changing it back to whatever it was originally and try that.

Hi, Sorry I haven’t been able to get back to this because of illness and a funeral yesterday. My present situation is that I seem to have sorted my Hotmail account but this means that the outgoing server SMTP is set to EUREKA! I have 2 other non-Microsoft email accounts and they seem to need different outgoing server settings to be able to receive any message that I want to send from Hotmail. Can you please help further? jack

Please provide more info. Are you saying you have other hotmail accounts? Maybe if you post whatever error messages you are seeing and the SMTP settings for those accounts. Thanks.

look at your SMTP settings pane . You have two zen accounts and both have the same description. change the description field for each to be the related email address. Then, check the account pane for each to see if each account is linked to the proper smtp server. As it stands, there is no way to know.
