I have Firefox 47 installed on windows 7 64bit and have set the updates to "Never check for updates". However from time to time, Firefox updated itself to version 48.

How can I prevent Firefox updates itself?

Thanks.

May I ask why you are trying to prevent updates. It is usually considered wise to allow updates. Note if you try to check the version using

Menu {2bar icon) -> Help {(?) icon) -> about Firefox

Firefox displays the details but also triggers an update. That check overrides the setting to not upgrade. If you wish to check the version without triggering an update use the troubleshooting Information page.

Note Firefox will update further to Fx49 next week.

I need to keep v47, since I am using Selenium webdrive 3 beta which currently doesn't work with v48.

I had hoped the beta Selenium 3 would work. I have cross posted your comment in to

Presumably if necessary you installed and use multiple versions of Firefox and of course will use multiple Firefox profiles. See also
