Firefox is no longer letting DownThemAll! intercept my downloads and instead just "runs" every download.

Firefox is set to "Save" all files to a specified directory. This is set in Options->General settings. But i also use the DownThemAll! add-on. After recent update, not only is Firefox not allowing DownThemAll! to intercept downloads, but it also doesn't save the files to the specified directory or even asks me what to do with the download. It simply saves it to the temp directory and pops up the run prompt when it's done. I would live Firefox to allow DTA! to intercept downloads, but failing that, i would want it to at least the files to the specified directory according to it's settings.

Obviously you are running a Beta version of DownThemAll, so issues can be expected. Does the issue occur when installing its latest beta or (better) stable version?

You can and maybe should start by running Firefox in Safe Mode to see if any (other) add-on is causing it.

Hi Tonnes.

I am running 3.0.8 and i don't see anything on the extensions page that it's a beta. Also, running in safe mode gives exactly the same result. Firefox is determined to "run" everything even though the setting says it should "save" everything.

Even if i change the setting to "always ask" it still "runs" everything. Meaning it saves it to the temp directory and continues to execute the file.

Sorry, I was probably mislead by another support question about add-on versions and the line that says DTA 2.0.18 is the latest stable version on DTA’s website when saying it was still in beta.

Nevertheless, when any download actions are not performed like you have set them, chances are the mimeTypes.rdf file in your profile may be corrupt.

Can you close Firefox, rename, delete or move that file away from your profile folder and restart Firefox? You may need to see some new prompts for actions the first time. Also see the What to do if you can't download or save files article.

Hi Tonnes.

Thank you for the response. I won't be able to confirm whether that course of action would have worked, since i fixed the problem by refreshing firefox. A feature i discovered while starting it in safe mode (which didn't help). It's weird that it wasn't offered as an option in help documents. I just happen to see it while doing the safe mode startup. Refreshing firefox and re-adding all my addons fixed my issue.
