the "new and better" version is unusable I hate being forced into a version I do not want, (which is by the way an extremely Fascist philosophy) and that will not work for me. How can I stop this from happening? or do I just have to go to a different browser like Opera, or perish the thought IE

You can use Mozilla Firefox ESR, which looks like previous version of Firefox. More info here!

You can make new version to look similar to old one by doing this tweak.

P.S. If you choose to use ESR, sooner or later you will have to adapt to new changes.
