I want to set up Thunderbird email client for my gmail address. However, I'd like to test this first without losing my other email.

Can I have two instances of Thunderbird on my computer, one with the verizon settings and the other with the gmail settings?

Or is there another way I can set up Thunderbird to receive/send gmail?

You can add multiple email accounts to Thunderbird. That's why most of us use a mail client; so we don't have to login to multiple different tools or websites to work with email. All accounts in one place with a consistent interface and toolset.

I have about 11 accounts in my Thunderbird.
