I have an iphone 5S with a personal hot spot. When I connect with my wifi Network I cannot go online, although network is checked off. What is preventing this?
I cannot connect to the internet via wifi, through my iphone 5S hotspot. Although my network name is checked off and wifi has a green light for 'connected', I get a message telling me that server cannot be found. Why is this happening? Why am i being blocked from going online?

I do not have any personal experience using a hotspot on an iOS device.
Can you connect to sites using Safari or Google Chrome on the same hotspot, or does this problem affect all browsers on your Mac?
It affects all browsers. However, my iphone and android tablet both work with my hot spot.
As a Windows user, unfortunately, I don't have any idea of how to resolve wi-fi issues on a Mac. Hopefully another volunteer will have some suggestions.
Alternately, you might check:
- Apple forums: https://discussions.apple.com/welcome
- Your wireless carrier, in case this is a restriction on what devices can use your phone's hotspot on your current rate plan
Ok, thank you for your advices. I will go to the Apple site and call my wireless carrier. Your help was much appreciated.
