Hi,

I have an odd problem: When using Thunderbird to send emails my connection times out. However this only happens when I'm in the university network. At home I can happily send and receive emails (also at uni I can receive emails). Since everything is fine when I'm using my network at home I guess the reason is somehow the university. The problem is that they say they do not support Thunderbird so I should just use the web application.

Another piece to the puzzle which makes it even stranger is that with the inbuilt email from Windows 10 I could send emails (but Thunderbird is much much better).

My details: - email provider: gmail - ISP: eduroam (university network) - operating system: Windows 10 pro - no additional firewall or antivirus software - Thunderbird: 45.3.0

Any suggestions which would be next steps to check out where the problem lies? Cheers!

smtp screenshot did not work. so stats here:

server: smtp.gmail.com port: 465 authentication: normal pw security: SSL/TLS

however since it works at home these settings can't be the problem?!
