About a month ago I installed the newest version of Mozilla Thunderbird. Something went wrong in the installation process as my entire email system disappeared. Eventually (and somehow) I installed the newest version. But now some of my folders are missing. How can I recover them from a previous version of Mozilla Thunderbird?

Are these local folders or from a POP account, or folders in an IMAP account?

We think it is a local folder. but I know just enough about the depths of a computer to be dangerous. My Linda folder in my Mozilla Thunderbirdis missing, it contained jokes, cartoons, etc.

Help/Troubleshooting, Profile Folder, Open Folder, close TB. The current profile will be opened in File Explorer, so go up one level to Profiles and see if there is an older profile folder. Open it, then open Mail/Local Folders and look for the mbox file named Linda (no extension). It might also be in an account subfolder e.g. Mail/pop.gmail.com. Copy the Linda mbox file into Mail/Local Folders of the current profile, then restart TB and see if the folder appears under Local Folders in the Folder Pane.

If it's an IMAP folder, right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, Refresh, subscribe to the missing folder.
