There is presently a working NPAPI plugin for our applications which works well in both Firefox and Chrome. However, because plugins are getting blocked in the near future, we are searching for alternatives. Is there any way to port our application to web, so that it works with the same code in both Firefox and Chrome (in both Windows and Mac)?

Firefox isn't going to be blocking plugins. Where did you read that? Plugins will have to be clicked to be activated, but they will still work.
