What are the correct server settings for a Frontier mail account?
I use Thunderbird on both my desktop and my laptop to receive my e-mail from Frontier. The problem I am having is that on my laptop, my e-mails disappear after a couple of weeks whereas on my desktop they do not.
These are the sever settings on my desktop (everything working fine) POP Mail Server pop.mail.yahoo.com, Port 995
After consulting with Frontier tech support, I changed the server settings for my laptop to this: IMAP Mail Server pop3.frontiernet.net Port 995. I closed and reopened Thunderbird but the server type is still listed as IMAP not Pop3.
I don't understand the difference between the two (not my area of expertise), I just want my laptop to retain all my messages (like my desktop) rather than deleting them after a couple of weeks.

You changed the settings of an existing account to change it from POP to IMAP? Not a good move.
Given what you want to do, I'd start over again and set up the account to use IMAP on both computers. POP is simply not a good fit to working an email account on multiple computers.
The port number generally dictates which protocol is used. It's not uncommon for the IMAP and POP servers to co-exist on the same computer, so whether it has pop or imap in the human readable version of its address is irrelevant to which protocol is used. So, it's quite likely that pop3.frontiernet.net also serves as an IMAP server, and pop3.frontiernet.net and imap.frontier.net do indeed reply to ping with the same ip address. 995 is used for POP and 993 for IMAP.
The computer with the POP connected account is by default going to download and remove new messages from the server leaving nothing for the other computer. You can get round this by setting it to leave copies on the server. However it is still possible that a later deletion of a message will also remove it from the server.
You do need to review the settings for message retention.

Zenos - Thanks so much for your suggestion, I changed the setting on my desktop so that it leaves messages on the server for 999 days (it had been set at 14 days) and I also unchecked "Until I delete them". Hopefully this will solve my problem.
