I have for a long while only had to start typing and most of the time I could pick from a list which appeared below. This has not occurred since I had to download a new version of Firefox. I do not know if this is a Google or Firefox problem.

Chosen solution

Where are you typing?

Firefox's search box/search bar (see screen shot) usually has suggestions, but they can be turned off. You can check for that by clicking the "g" icon to expand the drop-down menu, and choosing Manage Search Engines.

If you mean on Google's site, if Google detects a slow connection, it may switch off the usual "instant prediction results" search. You can go into Google's search settings and force that setting to be always on. https://www.google.com/preferences

If the problem is in Firefox's address bar, which normally shows suggestions from your history and bookmarks, that's different. See: Address bar autocomplete suggestions in Firefox.

Is it any of those?
