Gmail almost doesn't work with Firefox, starts and stops with a circle showing busy or loading while I write and often the whole screen fades to pale colors

While writing an email in Gmail after I type a few letters the busy circle appears and the screen freezes. Then after a few seconds what I typed appears on the screen. Sometimes the whole screen fades to light colors while it is frozen. It is almost impossible to use Gmail since it freezes after I type only a few letters.

If I use Internet Explorer instead of Mozilla, Gmail works normally. There seems to be a conflict with Mozilla.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.
