Thunderbird Inbox incorrect date display from 1 email address. Can this be fixed?
I have one person whose email address is with plus.com where the date displayed in Thunderbird's Inbox is always incorrect. e.g. Correct date: 4/9/14 is displayed as 01/08/06.
I've checked in Windows Mail and in Gmail where the date is displayed correctly.
Chosen solution
Thank you for providing the information I requested.
Upon examination I see the Date: header is the one with the wrong date: Date: Tue, 1 Aug 2006 06:03:52 +0100. This is usually the sending system's time. All the other date headers (Sent:, Received:) are OK and correspond to sending/receiving servers.
I suspect your friend's date / time may be incorrect. Can you ask them to double-check?
It also seems Thunderbird displays or uses that date when it displays a message.
You can change this at View > Sort by > Order Received and also add a new column in the message pane as shown in the attached screen capture.
Perhaps the IMAP received date could also help work around this problem, if the Received date as displayed in the message pane columns turns out incorrect.
As usual, before going any further and trying anything, please make a backup of your profile. Did I mention a backup would be ideal? Oh, and please make a backup of your profile.

Many thanks. The IMAP Received Date add-on has solved this for me. Getting the date corrected on the sender's machine is not really an option. It's a lady in her 80's far away from me!
I am glad to hear that your problem has been resolved. Thank you for selecting the answer that solved the problem. This will help other users with similar problems find the solution more easily.
Regarding the date on the sender's system, keep in mind this will probably be problematic for other recipients as well, it may be useful to keep a bookmark to this thread for other Thunderbird users.
