Are there any steps that you take right before the program crashes in the last three days?
Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode may tell you if it is a website/addon combo crash.
The only thing I recall is that I installed ACE Player but I uninstalled it already. I also reinstalled Firefox and Flash. Mozilla crashes almost every time I start writing an e-mail from my Yahoo account or while posting messages in various message boards and forums.
The only other plugins I have are Adobe Acrobat 11.0.8.4, MS Office 2010 14.0.4761.1000, MS Office 14.0.4730.1010, QuickTime 7.7.5 7.7.5.0 and Flash 15.0.0.152
Thanks for the provided link, I'll try out the steps and will give you feedback
About the crash reports,
In the address bar, type about:crashes. Note: If the report does not have BP in front of the numbers, click it and select Submit.
Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;
Type about:preferences in the address bar and press enter
Select Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
Then restart.
Many thanks FredMcD!
I will try now with hardware acceleration switched off. Otherwise I've tried the safe mode, it crashed. I've disabled all plugins, it crashed again. I've run drive error check and it still crashes. Avira doesn't find any viruses or malware. Next I'm going to check the firewall settings.
PS: Firefox just crashed while I was writing this...

Most of those reports say;
Process Type plugin Shockwave Flash Version:15.0.0.152 Filename:NPSWF32_15_0_0_152.dll
Troubleshoot Shockwave Player installation | Windows Troubleshoot installation | Shockwave Player | Mac OS
I've removed all Shockwave components, reinstalled it and started using Internet Explorer (!!!). Now the Explorer crashes as well... Many thanks for all the help to all contributors so far!
If both browsers are crashing, it may be something other than them.
Start your Computer in safe mode. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites.
Starting The Computer In Safe Mode;
If running, turn your computer off. Remove any disks and thumb drives that are in your hard drives or ports. Now start your computer but also;
Windows; Press the <F8> key repeatedly. Mac: Hold down the Shift key. Linux; Using the command line, Linux/Unix computers can be booted into various run levels that determine which resources are loaded. For example, "runlevel 1" is typically the equivalent to Windows and Mac safe modes.
When the Boot menu is displayed, release the key you were pressing. You must now choose what mode to use. The most used are;
- Safe Mode; The computer runs with only a minimum set of programs.
- Safe Mode With Networking; Same as above, but with internet access.
Dear Fred,
many thanks for your help. Suddenly, both browsers stopped crashing. I don't really know what was the reason for the recovery... However I learned a lot from you so I'll just click on the "Yes" button on your replies.
Best regards Boris
Do you mean the computer in safe mode stopped the crashes? That means one of the programs in the computer may be causing the problems.
Check the programs that are on your computer
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.
Please post any new crash reports.
There are no new crashes. I don't know what happened, I didn't even use the safe mode. Here are the last crash reports:

Do you have more than one installation of flash? The first signature is Flash version 13 that is causing the crash. Check this in your Firefox Menu by clicking on the Add ons menu then clicking on Extensions. Is there more than one Shockwave flash player listed?
Modified
This is what those reports are showing;
- One shows; Process Type plugin Shockwave Flash Version:15.0.0.152 Filename:NPSWF32_15_0_0_152.dll
- Most show; Memory usage is a bit high
It could be the memory usage indeed. I've deleted all previous versions of Flash and also all associated files according to the troubleshooting tutorial kindly provided by you. Right now, there is only one version of Flash shown in the Plugins section. In the Extensions section, I only have AdBlock Plus.
I guess I need to check how to optimize the memory usage.
