How do I restore all my Firefox settings and functionality from backup?

I had to reinstall Windows 8.1. Luckily I have a backup of my old user folder and I had Firefox Sync. How do I restore Firefox to exactly the way it was before the crash i.e. all the settings, add-ons, toolbar customizations etc.? Sync seems to have restored the bookmarks and some of the add-ons, but it did not restore the new Firefox to exactly the way it was before the crash. Can I just replace all the files in the new Firefox profile folder with the files from the backup Firefox profile folder?

Thanks

Yes, that should work fine. Just make sure you only replace the "contents" of the Profile folder with those from the backup - the Profile name must remain unchanged.

Thanks. Do I literally replace and overwrite all the files and folders in the newly installed Firefox profile folder? Or which ones should I copy over?

What about extensions and add-on? Will copying over the backup profile files automatically install them into the new Firefox?
