from what I know Google switched to that months ago

My home page is been on that link for months

The reason for this is that Google is using the more secure https:// instead of their previous http://.

When you attempt to access Google through any HTTP URLs the Google DNS servers redirect you to the HTTPS URL. What are you seeing is information stating as much appended to the URL which reads as follows.

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl https://www.google.com/?Google web server_redirect=secure socket layer
