Google Mail has a folder for my emails, how do I get rid of it?
All of my emails, wanted and unwanted, are duplicated in the Google Mail folder under various headings. It has proved impossible for me to delete these emails. Can you advise me how to delete both these emails and the Google Folder?
Chosen solution
What is the name of the folder? All Mail? That is what it says, all your mail. That is how gmail works. If you empty that folder ALL your mail will be gone. You can unsubscribe to it in Thunderbird if you do not want to see it but you should manage it from time to time and clean out unwanted mail.

The folder is called in italics (Google Mail) and I have been trying to clear by deletion, by transfer to Trash followed by "Empty Trash" etc. - but all mail items just reappear in the All Mail sub folder of (Google Mail). I have my own main folder named "Inbox" into which all mail comes to be distributed by me. (Google Mail) appears also to be a sub-folder of my "Inbox". I hope I'm explaining this clearly. I have now unsubscribed from the All Mail folder and it has been removed from my sidebar. Thank you for your help.
