Why does my PC start to run scripts almost as soon as I start to use Firefox? It does not do it with any other app.

Within a couple of minutes of selecting Firefox the screen comes to a grinding halt and a message appears that my PC is running scripts. This only happens on Firefox but not on any other application. Unlike microsoft explorer there doesn't seem any way to stop it running scripts, even pressing the 'stop running scripts' button has no effect. Anybody got any solution out there?

Not sure this will help, but I run NoScript. It's a Firefox Ad-on. It stops scrips from running on the tabs unless you allow them. I've never seen the message you mentioned. But I've been using using NoScript for a long time so maybe scripts have gotten out of control. You may want to run MBAM just to make sure you haven't been hacked. Download it from https://www.malwarebytes.org/. Of course there may be something entirely different going on
