Every time I attempt to set up Firefox as a browser I get the following in the URL: http://home.tb.ask.com/index.jhtml?ptb=8DF4056F-F4B5-4B81-A81C-537CF1246C5D&n=781bdded&p2=^BNH^xdm379^YYA^us&si=transit-info-direct-US Down in the right hand corner of the display is: Mindspark, Inc. Getting rid of this is getting very frustrating. Does anyone have a proven permanent solution for resolving this situation? If I was more sophisticated I would consider nuking Mindspark.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove ASK Anything. Now do the same in the computers Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Also where are you trying to download Firefox from as Firefox from www.mozilla.org and www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ is clean and does not get redirected anyway upon downloading.
