Updated Firefox to 46.0 with muon installer. No errors there. When i try to start Firefox in normal or safe mode, it keeps crashing. Tried clean reinstall in muon and also removed profile folder, but without luck. Also using a new profile did not help.

Firefox 46.0 in Kubuntu 12.04.5

Any hints?

Kubuntu 12.04 was released April 26, 2012 and with it being a LTS version (if based on the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) it has pretty old packages. LTS means they focus more on stability vs being current.

Firefox 46.0 from mozilla.org www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ requires to have GTK 3.4 or newer.

This old Kubuntu 12.04 has a old GTK 2.24.x version. The GTK 3.4 came out March 2012.

Besides trying to build Firefox 46.0 yourself to not have this requirement (if even possible) or upgrading to a more current version of Kubuntu. You can consider in the meantime use the Firefox ESR builds which is currently based on Firefox 45.0 and only gets security/stability fixes. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/

So the Ubuntu version of Firefox 46.0 for the old Ubuntu 12.04 is linked against GTK3 instead of GTK2.

Oxygen-GTK3 theme (installed from the Ubuntu 12.04 repos) is active in ~/.config/gtk-3.0, Firefox crashes on startup. The crash does not occur with the defaullt (GTK 3.4.2) GTK3 theme.
