top of individual email window overlaped by list of emails in inbox, covering send buttons and can't pull it down.
Top of window that shows incoming email message appears to have disappeared under the list of incoming emails. The buttons to send, delete, etc can't be seen. The frame at the top of that window can't be seen, so I can't pull the window down to get a more complete view of list of incoming mail. I checked VIEW and all the 3 options are checked.
Also I can't get screen shot to work.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
What a relief! Thank you!

Someone suggested go to help and choose "Restart with add-ons Disabled." This only worked temporarily. I followed directions to make it permanent, but it wouldn't work. The area for the list of emails is less than an inch, making it very difficult to scroll through the list to see what's there. Thank you, Pamela
I have closed your other thread as a duplicate. .of this one. What part of disabling your add-ons did not work. Reboot into safe mode again and instead of continue in safe mode disable all add-ons and reboot.
I did that, and it doesn't work. I've done it over and over and over.

Ok,
First go on the toolbar then Click the Extensions on the left. Are all your add-ons showing disabled like you asked? If they are.
On the toolbar > Options > Advanced > General. Disable or deselect the use hardware acceleration option at the bottom of the dialog box
Hi Matt, yes extensions and add-ons are all disabled. When I click the toolbar, it opens a small window which is too small to see everything in it. I don't see "Options".
When I first open Thunderbird there was this message in the email message panel: (See below) (I used to have Parallels, but have not had it since I upgraded to a new mac mini over a year ago.)
Secure connection failed
safari.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed. The certificate is only valid for Parallels Panel The certificate expired on March 20, 2012 at 6:59 AM. The current time is June 8, 2016 at 4:56 PM. This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server. If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.
Or you can add an exception…
I've got a picture for you to clarify what I've described:
Modified
I have a picture of what comes up when I follow this suggestion:
On the toolbar > Options > Advanced > General. Disable or deselect the use hardware acceleration option at the bottom of the dialog box
Please note the constricted window that doesn't reveal all the text. I've noticed this problem for some time previous.
There are all sorts of display issues with OSX, especially retina displays. But that is not what I am seeing in your screen shot. Although the options and account settings dialogs appear to be the worst affected from what I have read.
So we can work with facts. Please go to the troubleshooting information on the help menu. Press copy to clipboard and paste the data into a reply message here. that will give me the account settings you use. I am guessing this has something to do with an account at mc.com. But will await the setting to try and work it out.

I posted this earlier, but it wasn't in a reply window. Thank you for your help with this.
ok radical surgery time. so hold your breath.
On the troubleshooting information. Click on the show profile button. Close Thunderbird move the folder Chrome from in your profile to somewhere else like your desktop. Restart Thunderbird.
Any better?
Hi Matt, Thanks for your efforts, but no that didn't help. I did it twice. Once I moved some chrome folders, and seemed like one wouldn't move, so I moved it to trash, and that worked. Second time I used search to find "chrome" and found more chrome things, and moved them to desktop. Restarted thunderbird, same problem, so I restarted computer, and restarted Thunderbird - same problem. Then I deleted all my trash - had thousands of trash emails. restarted everything. Same Same same.! So weird. I still am wondering about the message I photographed for you - the message in the message window SECURE CONNECTION FAILED, ETC.
Had to Force Quit Thunderbird today. Tried to send en email, and it got hung up - everything frozen.
