I'm using Debian based distributions. I would like to run Firefox under a different user than mine, i want to know which files or folder needs permission to write, read or execute, or if there is any other configuration that I might be missing.

Are you talking about creating another user profile under your name, or creating user profiles for other users on the computer?

If you install Firefox globally (i.e. not in your home directory) either from the repositories or from the Mozilla server then the Firefox program should be accessible by all users. If you have installed Firefox in your home directory then best would be to install Firefox globally (e.g. in /opt/ or in /usr/local/).

If you would start Firefox from another user account then a new profile folder will be created automatically for this user. So there would normally no need to change any permissions if there is read access to the Firefox installation folder. You would have to update Firefox via the software management of your distribution or manually by running Firefox as root (sudo).

Main profile with your personal data: ~/.mozilla/firefox/ Location for the disk cache: ~/.cache/mozilla/firefox/
