can't paste into search bar

After Firefox upgraded itself to 57.0, I am unable to copy and paste into search bar using mouse right clicks. The clipboard has the copied material since I can paste into LibreWriter but when I right click on the search bar and select Paste the "Change Search Settings" dropdown opens and nothing is pasted. If I Ctrl-V into Search bar it accepts the contents of the Clipboard.
