I unchecked EVERYTHING in the Address Bar under Privacy and Security but I am STILL getting a drop down "suggestion" bar. Please tell me there is a way to disable this ironically named "Awesome Bar." I neither need nor desire these suggestions and find it quite annoying. I feel like someone else is controlling MY computer.

You can disable all suggestions via Options/Preferences (Privacy & Security and Search)

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security:
    Address Bar: When using the location bar, suggest:
    History
    Bookmarks
    Open tabs

In case of issues you can set this pref to 0 or -1 on the about:config page.

  • browser.urlbar.maxRichResults = 0

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
