When I got to checkout, I got an error message that said my current version of Firefox was not supported. I tried to check for an update but just kept getting bounced to the App Store with no option for updating.

I think you have the latest version.

There are some sites that give a general warning that older browsers will stop working soon and need to be updated. However, these warnings do not appear to be targeted to your specific version, so in general, you can ignore those if they do not prevent you from completing your transaction. If you cannot complete the transaction, I guess you'll have to use Safari?
