I'm using Firefox ESR 68.5 64-bit and some users are experiencing a message when attempting to launch Mozilla Firefox. The title is firefox.exe - Application Error

"The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000005). Click OK to close the application"

After some investigation, it seems like this error message is connected to some registry values in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Launcher. If we set the REQ_QWORD on C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe|Browser to 0 Firefox launches without the error.

But we cannot explain why this is the case. There is a user who has the REG_QWORD entry for C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe|Browser is 20198250601 (hexadecimal). Firefox always fails to launch.

Can someone tell me what influences the values for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Launcher -- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe|Browser?

Is anyone aware of any reason it would have 20198250601 as a hexadecimal value?

I found this bug that was "resolved" https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1553775 for FF 67

I'm unsure why that one user has their value set to that, can you just change it to zero to fix the launching issue? Or am I misunderstanding the question here?

Let me know! Thanks

The Launcher should always be enabled. If you have specific users with Launcher problems, we'd like to know more so we can fix the problem.
