Shut down Thunderbird. Delete the program folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird Reinstall the program from https://www.thunderbird.net/

You will not lose your data, BUT it is smart to back up your profile on a regular basis. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_backing-up-a-profile

Thanks christ1 thats what I ended uo doing, I was a bit cranky that I might lose all my templates and filters but as you said my data was ok but I will do a backup. Thanks again
