Keep opening links in native Google Maps app

When i turn on "open links in native apps" in settings and i visit a link like "https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=..." Firefox correctly opens Google Maps and i can create a route for the destination. When i do it a second time, it stops working.

Instead i get referred to a website, which opens in a new tab - [loading time] - and being asked to install "Google Maps GO". If i do so, i have to choose "my location" - [loading time] - click on "open in app" - [loading time] - and et voilà it opens the wrong app! (Google Maps GO, instead of Google Maps). This is insanely annoying!

This may be ok-ish, if you open like 1 Google Maps link per day, but i need this feature like a dozen times per hour, so the loading times add up accordingly. And i can't re-open firefox, including the website for every route i want to make, since this is adding another loading time of about a few minutes. I hope you see the problem here.

I already tried to disable/re-enable the switch for "open links in native apps" in settings, but i didnt work. Only the first time after starting Firefox the correct app is opened.

I can think of 2 solutions here: 1. Fix this bug. 2. Let us choose which native app to open, depending on a link's TLD.

(And NO, Google Maps GO is not an acceptable alternative to Google Maps for me.)

Hi

What version number of Firefox for Android are you using?

more options

I am using Android 8 with Firefox 92 (latest updates).

I just updated Firefox to latest version 93 and the problem still persists.

What is the make and model of the Android device that you are using?

How much free space do you have on the device (not including any SD card)?

more options

I tried it with an Android S5 (1,4 GB free space) and an Android S7 (2,2 GB free space). It worked on both before a certain FF version, so they are definitely capable of opening Google Maps original app over and over again.
