cannot login to gmail account in Thunderbird
I have been successfully logging into my gmail account for years from Thunderbird. Now it stopped working. (Two other non-gmail accounts continue to work.) When it tries to retrieve the email, a google login-request pops up with the email address already filled in, but when I hit "next" it reopens the dialog without the email address and if I fill it in and click "next" it just deletes it again and requests it again. I can log in to google with that address from my browser without issues. Bit that login does not carry through to thunderbird, which continues as above. There is a popup complaining about an authentication problem. I am using OAuth2 (and SSL/TLS, if that is relevant). I have tried deleting the history and cookies with no change. I believe there may have been a Windows 10 update between the working/not working periods, but I'm not positive of that timing.
Thanks, Alex

You must accept cookies in TB Preferences for OAuth to complete, but otherwise the authentication could be blocked if you're connecting through a VPN. Some antivirus apps can also do this. What is the antivirus and its settings for email, i.e. the TB profile folder? As well, it might help to remove passwords and oauth tokens from Saved Passwords in Preferences, then restart TB.

Indeed! Cookies were the hang-up! Thanks, Alex
