When opening my firefox browser page, I get a sound like an ambulance siren, and sounds that a tech at Cox Communications id'ed as PacMan noise. The tech also stated that he heard the same noise on the Google browser page yesterday. Any suggestions/solutions?

Haha that was amusing.

That pacman noise was getting very annoying. Glad that I wasn't the only one with the problem.

Disabling Cool Previews fixed it right up.

uninstalling coolpreviews worked, was thinking of uninstaling it anyways since I hardly use it, thanks for making my decision easier

same problem too even changing default home page and search case to non google won't help even after restarting even after clearing all browser history, coockies....

Google has some sort of anniversary going on and the logo is pacman, whenever you search it will start the noise, for some reason cool previews is being buggy with it.

I have started up FF from both yahoo and netflix, both give me that sound 4 seconds later. Then when I switch to a different web page except this one it continues...

I've had the same problem the whole morning with my Firefox, it only happened with Firefox, no matter what webpage I were on that infernal sound would be there, I tried to find a reason for it so I googled the problem, they said it didn't happen on other browsers and right now I'm using google chrome or internet explorer cus that sound was killing me, it doesn't happen on any of the browser I named before, I wan't my Firefox though =S

start firefox in safe mode it wont happen at least till they get this fixed i know only temporary but at least that sound will not be driving you crazy

my solution is to watch tv... until it comes ryt... hehe :)

was scanning my pc, searching the net 4 different new pac-man virus... didnt want to plug in my external or usb, fear of transferring the problem to other pc's... (thought today, what if people try to mess with our internet during the soccer world cup?) so glad to hear every one is experiencing same global event
