We have a desktop shortcut to access a webmail server. (Firefox is the default browser.) When Firefox has available updates, the link fails, with a network unavailable message, which connfuses the users. Is there a command line option I can add to the shortcut to keep Firefox from updating at start-up?

There may have been a more direct method, but I created a "No Updates" profile which has all auto-updating turned off, and rewrote the shortcut to:

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Firefox.exe" -P "No Updates" http://mail.[domain].com

I won't know for certain that it works until the next update is posted...

Testing completed successfully! An update (3.6.13) was available, and the shortcut worked as desired!
