Is there a way to disable or alter keyboard shortcuts?

I use a web-based database with a main "Save" function that utilizes Alt-S as its shortcut.

Firefox opens up the History drop-down menu with that keyboard shortcut. IE also uses that shortcut for it's "Safety" menu, but that function seems to be overridden by the database function.

This kills my work flow! Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion, but those links refer to work that is pretty far out of date. Looks like only good through Ffox 2.

That extension should still be working in Firefox 4. The developer dorando still answers questions about that extension on the mozillaZine forums.
