I have created annual archive folders on my local drive using Thunderbird. I would like to make copies and store them on a server. Can this be done and will I be able to restore them if my local drive crashes?

If you have an IMAP account, you can upload your messages to the server. Note, this isn't equivalent to a backup of your profile, so make sure you create backups on a regular basis.
