I had to change my email password with Verizon. In Thunderbird I went to stored password and deleted both the pop and smtp stored password. Thunderbird will not prompt for the new password so I cannot get or send my email in Thunderbird.

Hi jwassall,

Have you tried to temporarily change the name of the POP server and then change it back? This should prompt for a password.

Another method is to check if the file popstate.dat in your Thunderbird profile folder is corrupted, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Popstate.dat#Deleting_popstate.dat

I solved it. Turns out my Norton Smart Firewall was blocking the password prompt.
