Hi halfmoose, if a site wants to use the camera, Firefox will test whether it has access. However, pages are not allowed to actually use the camera until you give permission (site by site).

I have this same problem, yet I'm never actually asked for permission. I just get the security notification that my camera was accessed. This is concerning.

My understand is that this is because Firefox tests whether it has access to the camera before prompting for permission (or perhaps before using a saved permission). That's all I know. If you want to revoke permission at the system level, you can.
