When I open Mozilla thunderbird, it goes directly to the home page. I have to right click on the inbox and open it in a new tab, and then it takes forever (if at all) for them to download. I cannot write a new message and when I do get a folder to open in a new tab, I cannot open the e-mail or attachments.

Chosen solution

Sounds like what some other users are seeing

1. open tools | addons | extensions and remove Lightning/calendar addon 1a. if you can't get to addons, then start thunderbird in safe mode https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode and try again) 1b. if you still can't get to addons, reinstall thunderbird from http://getthunderbird.com/ 2. restart thunderbird 3. reinstall Lightning/calendar addon - if you need the functionality

Please tell us, does that help?

Or, install the updated lightning addon 4.0.3.1 which came out this morning.
