I am moving Thunderbird from a computer with windows 8 to different computer with windows 10. I have everything moved except the contacts. How do I move them. I have all the contacts on a USB drive. Import does not work, it does not ask to move from Thunderbird to Thunderbird. It appears I am going to have to manually enter all my contacts!! I cannot find the few contacts I have created on Thunderbird to find the location to copy the contacts over to. Very frustrating. Your help does not help. Can you give me steps?

A great tool when moving address-books is to use MoreFunctionForAddressBook When you try to use it don't have "All Address Books" marked as that isn't a legitimate a-book. You can import an entire .mab -file so there is no need to enter each entrance.

This reply is an advertisement to use some sort of software. I don't need that. I need a way to move my contacts from Mozilla in Win 8 to Mozilla in Win 10.

That statement indicates a total lack on comprehension of the reply you received. Did you click the link and download the add-on, or just reply with a totally false statement?

I suggest you click the link, find the add-on for Thunderbird that allows you to import the address books and get on with doing so.

OR

Do it the old fashioned way, locate your profile and copy it. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=profiles-tb#w_where-is-my-profile-stored

My mistake, I never told you it was an add-on that you also could find in addons.mozilla.org. I gave you the link to the author, Kaosmos. A trusted developer. Just for your knowledge, he also has other very useful add-ons, like ImportExportTools.

There is no money, ads or extras involved

You can overwrite standard .mab-files in your profile but you can't add any. That's why I suggested this tool.

I went to the link and downloaded more functions for address book and the app would not load.

As far as profiles go, I don't want to copy my entire profile over. All I want, as I have stated, now for the third time, is to get my contacts from Thunderbid on one computer with windrows 8 to this computer with thunderbird and windows 10. Why is it so had?

Lastly, why do I have to do all this, why isn't it easier?

If you have spare couple of hundred thousand dollars around, I would be happy to take it to the council and ask them to hire a developer to make it easier. Development is expensive and we operate with Volunteers at this point in time.

Soto reinterate you have the information on how to do what is needed. There is no point repeating the question. We know what you asked, and we answered you.

Perhaps you need to read the instructions on how to add a add-on to Thunderbird. my wild guess is you just clicked the link on the web page and Firefox said no this is not a signed add-on for firefox. That is usually what has happened when someone comes back to this forum complaining that "the app would not load." or some variation of the same.
