Scrolling is very slow and looks like it's re-rendering from top to bottom on each scroll.

After downloading Firefox 4, scrolling isn't work well. Each time I scroll up or down, the page looks like it's re-rendering by wiping from top to bottom. Takes about 2 seconds to so before I can scroll any further. There's no smoothness to scrolling like there was in the past.

I tried downloading new graphics drivers, but that didin't fix the issue. I tried checking "smooth scrolling" in advanced options, but that made it worse.

Update the video display driver to the latest version.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox 4.0:

  • Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Browsing: [ ] "Use hardware acceleration when available"

same here - the scrolling is choppy and most of the time when I scroll it turns the whole page white and only "unfreezes" when I use to scroll bar to move the page up and down again.

I really want to upgrade but after 2 mins of this scrolling issue I had to revert back to 3.6.
