Dear Sir I have Hotmail account with active step 2 verification. I use the only browser my mail but I want to use Thunderbird with my Hotmail account with step 2 verification. Thunderbird does not accept web-based email client. How do I use Hotmail with step 2 verification on Thunderbird.

Thanks

Starting from File/New/Existing Mail Account, enter your address and password, but instead of the usual account password, use an app password that is created through your MS account:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/12408/microsoft-account-how-to-use-two-step-verification

Further details about TB settings are given here.

The settings that work with my Hotmail account are: incoming IMAP server: outlook.office365.com on port 993, SSL/TLS, normal password authentication, User name = email address; outgoing SMTP server: smtp.office365.com on port 587, STARTTLS, normal password authentication, User name = email address.

It supports application passwords. So does outlook.com. I suggest you create one as suggested in the link you were given.
