Why do I continue to get, on a regular basis, the message "Warning: Unresponsive plugin; Shockwave flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding"??

This message will pop up at least once a day when I am on the internet, and sometimes numerous times depending on what I am doing online. It seems to happen during a variety of activities online, whether it be playing a game or reading a article.

IMO, users running WinXP would be better off using Shockwave Flash 10.3.183.90 rather than a newer version. Most of the Flash 11 versions added features for Vista and newer versions of Windows that are not available for Win XP. Adobe did keep Flash 10.3 updated for WinXP users until like the 11.7 - so 10.3 isn't that far behind in security fixes.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
