I want to fine tune which links open certain ways but cannot figure it out.
Ok here is the deal... I have played with all the option in the about:config settings but I cannot get FF to treat links like it does on my other computers.
The settings I am trying to achieve:
Search engine links to open in current tab Forum links to open in new tab External links from facebook to open in new tab
Pretty much if I am navigating within a single webpage I would like the links to open in the current tab. If I am going to be linked externally I want them to open in a new tab. I can only manage to get FF to either open all links in the current tab or in new tabs or windows. I cannot get certain ones to open certain times... My about:config settings for browser.link* are all set the same as my other computers which treat links the way I prefer.
Firefox 36.0

Do you have the same plugins in all your computers? Also, try copying the profile from the computer with the right behavour. It's very easy: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
ShiraRead, yes the add-ons are the same for all machines. I attempted to copy the profile from the laptop to the desktop and I am still having the same issue. The only thing I have not done at this point is reinstall FF. I don't think that should be necessary, there has to be something that is influencing the way FF is making linking decisions. Thank you for the reply, I will debug this sooner or later, just thought maybe someone had seen this before.
That's very strange... If nothing else works try the Tab Mix Plus extension. It allows to change the bahaviour for many types of links.
