Why isn't an individual tab's history perserved in the newest version of firefox?
In previous versions, when I used the history menu to restore recently closed tabs, the restored tab would open in the same place as when it was closed (relative to other open tabs). It also still retained the history of pages viewed in that tab and I could use the back button to go back to those pages. Now, tabs restored from the 'recently closed' list behave more like simple bookmarks. Restoring a recently closed tab, separate form any others, gives me only the last page viewed. I can no longer use the back button to view pages previously opened in that tab.
I also noticed that the bookmark, pocket and screenshot icons are now integrated into the url field and can't be moved when customizing. So between these two changes, the new version lost some functionality and can't be customized the same way. Call me crazy but that sounds like the opposite of an upgrade. And that's just what I've noticed so far. What other useful features are going to turn up missing as I get more familiar with version 57.0?

By any chance were you using the Tab Mix Plus addon ? That addon is no longer supported. That was what gave you the functionality you're describing, I think. Without it, you're stuck using the default tab restoring engine.
