Latest Firefox version has downloaded for my Windows 8.1. It just goes on endlessly installing, and never finishes. I understand the program is only 7.2mb- ?
I was prompted to download the latest edition of Firefox as 'An update is not possible'. I downloaded the 306k Installer Exe file, and then ran it. The full program download occurred and the Installing screen appeared, with its scrolling bar. More than 10 minutes later the installation was still running, and it never finishes ! As I understand the program is only 7.2mb it shouldn't take that long to install. I have run Firefox for many years with no problems.

Did you get the full installer from; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}
I clicked on the 'full installer' and nothing happened (i.e no download). I think my problem is caused by the fact that Firefox is unable to download an 'update' and requires to install a whole new version, so does it uninstall and overwrite the old one ? I think this may be the problem. If I manually uninstall the current version, can I get to Mozilla to download the new one, as I won't have a browser to download the new browser ?! OR, if I've saved the 306K installer file, can I click on that and will that get me to Mozilla and start the full download ? I'm quite happy with the current version, and am reluctant to screw everything up as you will appreciate !
Try saying the full setup for Windows from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all as some antivirus clients and other software can still affect the small online stub installer even though it has existed since Firefox 18.0.
The full setup if you can get it downloaded will install offline and not need to connect to do install.
I've tried the link to the 'full' downloader. It downloads and 'installs' and continues to install for ever ! It never completes. Something is causing a hang up.
