Import of one vcf file does not work anymore ? 60.5.0 (32 bits) (on Windows 10 64 bits)
Importing A file (that contains lots of contacts) results in displaying same number of icons but with absolutely no data in them.
Windows 10 64 bits - French 4 Go Ram
I tested both 64 and 32 bits versions of TB and 60.2.xx 64 bits Used to work last year (Jan 2018) Also tried with a fresh export from contatcs ; no luck Tried to use CardBook : Woks fine but does not create groups (or could not find).
Help appreciated

Hi, Thank you for your reply, unfortunately I did not saw it before doing some extra tests:
Before modifying all my data, I simply copied and paste in a file the V4.0 format of vCard given in Wikipedia (Forrest Gump). This does not work. After several try and errors I finally made it work after the following modifications: 1) VERSION:3.0 or 4.0 in the file has no effect, 2) TEL must be in the form: TEL;work:+1-111-555-1212 or TEL;work;PREF:+1-111-555-1212 3) x-qq:21588891 should be removed Once this is done the import work but: a) Photo field is ignored (in this syntax at least - not tried other syntax) b) In the N: line the 4th field "Mr." is ignored even if it is in 3rd position but maybe because TB has no place for it. c) Could not find the correct syntax so the address goes in Home instead of Work. I tried: ADR;HOME:;;xxxx and ADR:HOME;PREF:;;xxx and ADR:;;xxx
I might try "MoreFunctionsForAddressBook" if I cannot continue.
P.S. Sorry for my english

You VCF file is probably in V3 format (apple uses V3 if it is relevant) Thunderbird can not read V3 files
Thank you for your answer :-) Yes my file is in V3.0 format. I will try tomorrow changing to V4 (manually first) and come back!
Try changing it to version 2. if Thunderbird can't do 3, 4 is not even a remote chance. Cardbook as I understand it can import V3, but personally I have had little luck with cardbook. The initial install did not go well and it has been strange ever since, so perhaps it is a little brittle in it's functions.
The integrated contact tool in TB exports the vcf file in 2.1 format but cannot read it back. Everything is in lower case and a new (empty) line separates each vcard:
Example below (mails have been changed): begin:vcard fn:Dominique BALFOURIER n:BALFOURIER;Dominique adr;dom:;;;Malakoff;;92240 email;internet:dbal@wanadoo.fr tel;home:33677568588 note:Gym + Pilates version:2.1 end:vcard
begin:vcard fn:Charlotte BEL n:BELHADJ;Charlotte adr;dom:;;135, boulevard G. Peri;Malakoff;;92240 email;internet:charlotte.demont@example.com tel;home:33687554322 note:Pilates version:2.1 end:vcard

Install MoreFunctionsForAddressBook and see if it works better. In Address Book, Tools/MoreFunctionsForAddressBook/Actions for contacts/Import vCard/vcf.

MoreFunctionsForAddressBook does NOT support .vcf - there's not even an option to import them. (TB 60, addon1.0b8). The general help for new users to import from Windows Live Mail says to export in vcf but since this is hopeless people will simply walk away. I'm looking for somewhere to go!

See the attached pictures that show how to import and export in vCard (vcf) format with MoreFunctionsForAddressBook.
Ah, that seems to work, using the Tools menu - but right click in the address book and select 'Import vCard/vcf' does nothing. Should have expected a complete inconsistency - I've been using Windows too long... Looks like I've got a joyful couple of days importing contacts one at a time.
The whole point of using the add-on to import multiple vCards is that you can do it one step (Ctrl+A to select all in the Contact import dialog).

I see ! That was not my case: all contacts were already be in one file.
