Workaround to PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR?
I'm getting a PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR when trying to visit a site I've gone to scads of times and strongly believe to be valid today.
Is there any sort of workaround that would allow me to get to this site?
(And, BTW, why does Firefox absurdly tell me to inform the web site about this error when the error prevents me from getting to the web site?)

There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connection certificates and send their own.

Websites don't load - troubleshoot and fix error messages
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
I was hoping someone could tell me what the error means -- it doesn't come up when I search here, so something tells me its fairly obscure. And nothing that makes any sense to me comes up from a Google search.
So, yeah, I know I can try booting in safe mode to see if there's a virus-software related problem. But that still doesn't give me a way to get to the [probably] safe site on a routine basis.
Hi K in NC, I'm pretty sure PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR means that the server terminated the attempted connection. This could be because the list of supported protocols and encryption ciphers Firefox sent the server doesn't match anything on the server's list. Or it could be something else.
If you want to see whether a test installation of Firefox can connect, you could submit the server host name on the following test page: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/
Do you want to share the address that isn't working?
I have the same issue on DISQUS. Works in other browsers. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR
You can check the server.
You can check your browser and check for matches.
Thanks for the links to the ssllabs stuff. But I know the site that has been triggering (and DISCUS, which Donsigman mentioned) the PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR is a good site with a high level of security, so I don't believe the problem is coming from that end.
I still wish I knew what PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR actually means.
In my case, PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR was caused by a local router blocking the site.
I'm with K in Nc. Site good still can't sign on. I can with other devices, Ipad, Samsung phone, Tablet? All use firefox??? Can't with desktop!!

Hi Rfunk, the server and Firefox do not have any encryption ciphers in common. On the following test site, no tested version of Firefox can connect to that server. The site will need to reconfigure its settings.

Site says use Edge or Crome. They work. They do not care about using Firefox.

Hi Larry, what's the error message you're getting? What have you tried to fix it so far? Any difference if you visit the site in a private window instead of a regular window?
The error is PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR
I have not done anything yet other than try and find the error with google. I'm not sure what you mean by private window or regular. I have tried to bring the site up in chrome and get ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

A private window is a window that uses a temporary memory-based cache and cookie jar. It is a way to test whether a site can load if Firefox doesn't re-use cache and cookies from regular windows. See: Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history.
Since you get the same issue in Chrome, you might also test an "Incognito" window there.
If problems continue, perhaps it is how you connect to the site? Do you use a proxy or VPN?
Tried both private and incognito windows/tabs and got the same errors.
I just found something interesting I can get to this link;
but I can't get to this link and several others;

Hi, do all the problem links follow that pattern, that they are routing through email.seekingalpha.com and have "track" before the ? in the URL? Perhaps something is blocking those tracking links. Do you use any security software that may be filtering what your browsers can request?
I'm picking these links up Thunderbird then the link brings up Firefox. I haven't added add-ons or extensions that I can think of in the last few months. I'll work back thru the links I'll also work from the web site and see what I can find in the morn. That snuck up on me.
