ancestry.com suddenly stopped working yesterday in Firefox
I had a tab open in Firefox for ancestry.com yesterday and was toggling back and forth with other open tabs when suddenly when I clicked on the ancestry tab the page was all greyed out and I couldn't click on anything. It was working just fine a few minutes earlier.
I can open ancestry.com just fine Microsoft Edge browser so I'm assuming the problem is with Firefox.
Thank you for any help you can give me!
Diane

Do you have any content blocking extensions as this can be caused by content in a pop-up being blocked leaving only the grayed page ?
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for messages about blocked content.

Looks like an overlay.
Load the web page. Then, to reload the page bypassing the cache and force a fresh retrieval; Ctrl+Shift+R (Mac=Command+Shift+R)
Try this several times.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).
"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"
"Clear the Cache":
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
Thank you both! I tried all the solutions offered but the problem still exists. When I press Ctrl - F5 the page refreshes clear for a split second and then goes dark again.

When I turned on my computer today, two days after the problem started, ancestry.com opened just fine!
Thanks for all your help! I'll keep your solutions on file in case I have more problems of this nature.

Well the problem came back! I had two tabs open with ancestry.com and both were working just fine. I was doing a search online that took me to a ancestry page and once it opened it went dark. But the other tab that I have open still works fine!
Could this be an ancestry.com problem and not Firefox?
