Hi!

It seems that Thunderbird 115 has lost access to 'Clear Recent History' from the "three-bar" menu in the upper right corner. I can still do, Ctl-Shift-Del, thankfully, but would also like mouse access as it was before. Right now, I'd have to elect to show the menubar, taking up precious vertical real estate, in order to have access to Tools>Clear Recent History via the mouse.

Also, it is no longer in Settings, at least no relevant results show with a settings search for 'clear', 'recent' or 'history'. In fact 'clear cache on shutdown' seems to be the only setting despite there being prefs.js entries for others:

  • user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.cache", true);
  • user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.cookies", true);
  • user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.downloads", false);
  • user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.formdata", false);
  • user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.history", false);
  • user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.offlineApps", true);
  • user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.sessions", false);
  • user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.siteSettings", false);

Can we please get these basic privacy/security settings back?

Thanks!

I don't see this coming back as a menu item.

But would you be interested in having that in Settings as a default action on shutdown?

Hi!

So you're saying that it'll be removed from Menubar>Tools, too? I hope not.

Yes, getting it back into settings as a default action on Thunderbird shutdown would be helpful, thanks.

I suggest you offer feedback in the feedback forum about the situation. https://connect.mozilla.org Make sure to tag any item with the Thunderbird tag.

I will definitely check out "Mozilla Connect", but for the time being, I have cobbled an add-on from Dillinger's "Preferences Button" Thunderbird add-on, substituting the "toSanitize()" routine. That's actually easier to use than selecting the clear history function from the "three-bar" menu. I hope that the Thunderbird team does not deprecate that function call.

I suggest you publish the addon. Usage statistics from the addon site can provide some strong arguments for inclusion of features if they prove popular

Okay, the add-on, though not yet reviewed by Mozilla, can be seen here.
