Unable to remove unused email account (Thunderbird 115.2.0)
I'm running Thunderbird 115.2.0 on a 1918 vintage Macbook Pro under Ventura 13.5.2
There is an unused email account I want to remove but am unable to do so.
"Account Settings" reports "The following is a special account. There are no identities associated with it."
When I select the account and go to "Account Actions", the "Remove Account" button is greyed out. If I select other accounts it is NOT greyed out, only for this one unused account.
There was another account with the same email address that I was able to remove, but this "duplicate" account seems to be rather permanent.
Suggestions would be appreciated.

That 'account' is Local Folders, and cannot be removed. If it's been renamed to a mail account such as user@host.com, that is incorrect and misleading.
But it's possible in 115 to hide LF (see picture).
Thanks for the image and pointer. I've now hidden the offending account , although of course it's still present.
Per the info in the "Local Folders" link <http://kb.mozillazine.org> pointed to in your reply, apparently it's possible to hand-edit the .js file to remove the offending account but there are numerous cautions about doing so, so I've decided not to attempt that.
Also note that the documentation pointed to by the "Local Folders" link <http://kb.mozillazine.org/Local_Folders> in your reply brings up a page that suggests downloading an add-on for actually removing "local folders" accounts. The add-on claims "Works with Thunderbird 68.0 - 73.0" and was last updated in 2019. Since I'm on version 115.2.2 I decided to not go there.
IF the add-on actually works on 115.2.2, I'd be willing to try it, but only if there is confirmation that it works for the current version.
But for now, "hiding" the offending (non) account will have to be good enough.
Again, thanks.
